HEALTH & SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE (HSR) TRAINING

This course will provide your Health & Safety Representatives (HSR’s) with the knowledge and skills to address issues raised by workers and manage them to the satisfaction of stakeholders. HSR’s will be updated on their responsibilities, functions and powers according to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its regulations. In accordance with the requirements to maintain Consent to Assess for the unit standards taught on this course, Safety ‘n Action had this course pre moderated and approved by our standard setting body, The Skills Organisation.

Learning Outcomes

• The role and functions of the Health and Safety Representative
• How to advocate for workers who raise health and safety issues.
• Sources of information a Health and Safety Representative can request, and the procedures for requesting that information, and how to communicate this information when advocating for workers.
• Methods that are effective in communicating health and safety issues and recommendations from workers to workplace management, and how to provide effective feedback to workers on that communication.
• Supporting workers with injury/ill-health rehabilitation.
• Risk management process.
• The importance of communication with workers and management at all levels of the risk management process.
• The purpose, procedures and obligations applicable to a Provisional Improvement Notice
• The rights of workers and the processes for workers in ceasing unsafe work.
• When and how the Health and Safety Representative can direct unsafe work to cease.

Duration

This course will be one day course, staring at 09.00, finishing at 17.00.

Delivery Method

This training can be delivered via face to face and online/virtual instructor led mode of learnings.

PRE-REQUISITS

Prior technical knowledge of health and safety is not a requirement. However, familiarity with workplace processes and practices is helpful.
